The Wine Interpretation Centre of Rioja offers Beginners’ Winetasting Courses on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays at 11.30 am.
The course consists of a tasting of four DOCa Rioja wines, beginning with an introduction to the history of the Rioja Designation of Origin, the first in Spain to attain the “Calificada” category.
This is followed by the tasting, where participants learn that tasting is not merely drinking, but realising that all the senses merge and integrate into the wine offered by this land.
Four wines are tasted during the session —a young white, a Reserva white, a Crianza red and a Reserva red. For each, the ideal serving temperature is indicated, as well as how it should be preserved; also, an explanation is given on the life of the wine... In addition, participants carry out a sensorial analysis of the wine (sight, smell, taste, touch) to reach a final assessment of each of the wines tasted.
The price of the course includes access to the exhibition, teaching materials and a diploma.
